SHARING
PASSION & LOVE
FOR SOCCER
TO LONDON
FROM NYC
his was part of my “Day in a Life” assignment from the Editorial Photography Course at The School of Visual Arts in New York Masters program for Digital Photography.
I decided to follow my friend Lucas Brito, a classmate in my master's program and a documentary photographer who primarily creates black-and-white images.
He is from Brazil, so he naturally has a strong love and passion for soccer. His favorite team in the Premier League is Arsenal, so he has his go-to bar in NYC, also known as Arsenal Fan Bar, which is called O'hanlon in East Village. He is the photographer of the bar, so the whole bar is full of his works, which he has taken throughout multiple seasons.
On this day, Arsenal had a game with Tottenham. The game was at 9 a.m., and fans came to the bar at 7 a.m. It was one of the unique and special moments for me that day, and it was really cool to see people showing love and passion toward the team that is all the way in London from New York, America. I personally LOVE watching sports games with people who are passionate about them since I am a huge fan of baseball, American football, and the NBA. The energy of the sports fans is incomparable. It was fascinating, and I was also hoping to find Korean baseball bars like this so that I could support my team from a distance one day.
